Vintage French shabby chic painted and waxed fruit picking tapered wooden ladder

  

Vintage French fruit picking ladder with handmade round pegs to hold the rungs in place. Recently brought back from a village in the centre of France. 176cm high, 68cm wide at the bottom and 30cm wide at the top.

In good solid condition but some of the round pegs which hold the rails feel a bit loose. Not perfectly straight but all part of its charm and history. Marks consistent with age and use. I believe this ladder started its life as a fruit picking ladder but over the years it has also been used to decorate hence lots of splashes of various colours of paint. Has been cleaned and sanded flat but still reveals many different colours giving it a lovely warm shabby chic look. Has an antique brown wax finish on top of the paint.
